My Morning Download 1/31/08 - The Whigs
The Whigs hail from Athens, GA and are the latest rockers to release
an album on Dave Matthews' ATO Records. After the release of their
debut album in 2006 the band spent almost a year and 1/2 before
heading back in to the studio to record Mission Control, their debut
for ATO. Along the way the band built a significant grassroots
following and garnered a lot of online and traditional accolades for
their live shows. The new album is a collection of infectious rock and
roll from a trio that in the words of Rolling Stone Magazine "blend
60's pop craftsmanship and Southern-rock twang."
