world cultures dance and music



School of Music and Dance presents the annual World Cultures Dance and

Music Celebration at 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, featuring dance

performances from global genres, including Flamenco, Filipino,

Polynesian, Afro-Puerto Rican, African-Haitian, Hungarian Gitani and

Hip-Hop, accompanied by music. The event, directed by Dance Professor

Jerry Duke, will be held in McKenna Theatre, located in SF State's

Creative Arts building.

Admission is $14 general and $8 for students and seniors.

The World Cultures Dance and Music Celebration program will include:

* Afro-Puerto Rican, by student choreographer Christine Navarro;

* African-Haitian, by Alafia Dance Co., choreography by students

Mariella Moralles and Valerie Watson;

* Filipino, by the Pilipino American Collegiate Endeavor (PACE)

student organization;

* Hungarian Gitani, by Professor Jerry Duke;

* Polynesian, by Camille Tualaulelei of Manuia Polynesia;

* Hip-Hop, by FUSION student group; and

* Flamenco, by student Monique Fornier.

The SF State College of Creative Arts is one of the most prestigious

and diverse artistic, academic training institutions in Northern

California. An internationally acclaimed faculty teaches more than

3,000 undergraduate and graduate students from around the world in

renowned programs in Art, Broadcast and Electronic Communication Arts,

Cinema, Design and Industry, Music and Dance, and Theatre Arts. Each

semester, the college presents more than 160 performances, exhibits,

Tickets may be purchased at Ticketweb.com or through the Creative Arts

Box Office in person Mondays through Fridays from noon to 4 PM or by

calling 415/338-2467. Tickets also go on sale one hour before each

show. The Box Office is located in the Creative Arts building, outside

of McKenna Theatre.

Location and Parking

McKenna Theatre is located in the Creative Arts building on the SF

State campus, 1600 Holloway Avenue at 19th Avenue, San Francisco.

Public parking is available in Lot 20 on the SF State campus, accessed

from Lake Merced Boulevard between Winston Drive and Font Boulevard.

Parking is $1 per hour with a $5 daily maximum. Nearby on-street
