WORLD RAP CHAMPIONSHIPS LAUNCHES EXCLUSIVELY ONLINE

Posted at 8/14/2006 11:47:00 AM

Monday, August 7th, saw Jump Off TVs launch of the World Rap

Championships

coverage online. Promising to revolutionize the world of Hip Hop, the

international MC battle format successfully demonstrates that Rap is

the

next Extreme Sport.

With a total of 12 teams, set across two divisions London (UK) and New

York (USA), Jump Off TV viewers will watch 24 rappers battle it out

over the next 10 weeks for a place in the $10,000 Playoff Finals in

Las Vegas in October.

The unique tag-team format is set in abandoned warehouses and rooftops

across East London and Brooklyn, New York. During the 10 Week regular

season one battle a day will be available for streaming allowing

viewers to make comments, vote on the winners and share the content.

"Its great to be able to broadcast this new rap battle league online,

as we don't have to conform to any TV censorship regulations and we

can give our global audience of 200,000 viewers exactly what they want

On-Demand", said Harold Anthony, the shows producer.

Since November 2005 Jump Off TV has organized over 100 MC Battles on

the streets of London and New York and has amassed viral viewing

figures of over 500,000.

Battling is deep rooted in Hip Hop culture, from its inception in the

early 70's through to its commercialization today in films like

Eminems 8 Mile. This is the first move in a sequence of events to push

Rap as a sport in a world where Golf, Tennis, and Wrestling are fast

losing relevance with today's youth.

Kanye Storms Out Of Lollapalooza

Posted at 8/14/2006 11:30:00 AM

A furious Kanye West threw a tantrum at last weekend's Lollapalooza

festival in Illinois after a technical problem marred his set,

according to US reports.

The superstar rapper was performing at the Grant Park extravaganza in

his hometown of Chicago on Saturday when the sound was suddenly cut.

A source tells the New York Daily News, "He threw a hissy fit. When

the sound didn't work, he started yelling that he came all the way out

to Chicago and he couldn't believe he was being treated like this."

West was reportedly so upset he snubbed his own party for producing

trio Sa-Ra later that night.

Lil Kim's Rep, "These Rumors About Kim Being Dropped By Her Label Are

Untrue"

Posted at 8/14/2006 11:12:00 AM

A spokesperson for Lil Kim denied rumors that the female rapper has

been dropped from her label home Atlantic records, saying instead that

the Queen Bee is looking to leave the label.

dropped from Atlantic records for unknown reasons, Lil' Kim's

spokeswoman Tracy Nguyen told SOHH.com exclusively this afternoon,

"These rumors about Kim being dropped by her label are untrue. Both

parties are having discussions, in which I cannot confirm anymore

details than to say that she wishes they would release and simply free

her," said Nguyen.

Kim's attorney, L.Londell McMillan released a similar statement this

morning: "We are having discussions which I cannot confirm the details

at this time. However, we do wish Atlantic would release and simply

free Kim," entertainment attorney, L. Londell McMillan stated.

Jay-Z Sued By 40/40 Club Designer For Dcor Replication

Posted at 8/14/2006 11:05:00 AM

40/40 Club interior designer Ilan Waisbod filed a lawsuit against the

Club's owner, Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter, last week, alleging that the

rapper reproduced his dcor designs for a new 40/40 Club without his

permission.

Waisbod's design, complete with flat-screen televisions, hanging

chairs and a Lucite safe to guard the Cognac and other highly-priced

spirits, was allegedly used by Jay-Z for a second 40/40 Club in

Atlantic City, the New York Post reported.

Jay-Z was working on the plans to open clubs with similar interiors in

Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Singapore. The re-use of similar designs,

the lawsuit claimed, was a violation of the club's agreement with

Waisbod's design firm, Studio Gaia.

Representatives for the rapper were unavailable for comment as of

press time.
