My Morning Download 1/22/08 - The Black Hollies
The Black Hollies are from Jersey City, NJ and have the garage rock
thang on lock. Mining 60's garage, psychedelia with flourishes of
soul, the quartet are readying the release of their second long player
Casting Shadows. Led by songwriter, vocalist and bassist Justin Angelo
Morey, the band includes Herb Wiley V and Jon Gonnelli on sizzling
guitars, and Nick Ferrante on drums. Listen to a sampling of these
tunes - close your eyes and you'll find yourself seeing pictures of
matchstick men and falling deep into sensory overload of crimson,
clover, incense and peppermints. You'll have to think twice about it
being 2008 with The Black Hollies because they'll take you squarely
back to 1965.
